The photo above taken at Wimpy where Teachers, SFD Volunteers
and 8 students are taking a welcome break after handing out
thousands of leaflets and disks at East Rand Mall.
What we learned from the 2009 Software Freedom Day event:
1. We need to have 10 times more media and leaflets to hand
out
2. We need 5 times more volunteers to help interact with
the community (We need at least 40 people to help at a large
mall like East Rand Mall)
3. We need someone, full time, at each event to take photos
and video as there are so many interesting things that happened
The general public is already quite aware of Open Source
Software but that many people do not know where to get the
software, do not know about Linux User Groups and although
we have reached thousands of people on Software Freedom Day
2009, we can reach a hundred thousand people on the East Rand
in one day, easily!
Target for Software Freedom day 2010 - reach 100 000 people
